Today, a working meeting was held at MEMO with representatives from the management of the Croatian Power Exchange (CROPEX). The discussions between Zoran Gjorgjievski, CEO of the National Electricity Market Operator (MEMO), and Ante Mikulić, CEO of CROPEX, focused on the importance of modernizing and introducing new trading segments in electricity markets, as well as the functioning of the single electricity market of the European Union.

During the meeting, experiences were exchanged regarding the introduction of the auction system in the Guarantees of Origin (GOs) market in Croatia. Guarantees of Origin (GOs) are certificates used in the European Union and other regions to track and certify the origin of energy, particularly emphasizing renewable energy sources. These certificates are part of a system designed to promote transparency, environmental responsibility, and consumer trust in the energy market.

For participants in the Macedonian electricity market, the introduction of the  GOs and possibility for an auctioning of GOs, represents an additional benefit, ensuring that their electricity consumption is supported by the production of renewable electricity sources.
