According to data from the National Electricity Market Operator (MEMO), in October 2024, transactions by market participants to meet the total consumption in the Republic of North Macedonia, or gross consumption, amounted to 492 GWh.

To meet the country’s total electricity consumption, excluding losses, i.e., net consumption, 421 GWh of electricity was sold, of which 55% was to tariff customers supplied through the universal supplier, 37% to supplied customers, and 8% to customers registered on the wholesale electricity market.

On the electricity market, transactions from domestic production amounted to 391 GWh, with ESM contributing the largest share at 204 GWh or 52%. This was followed by independent producers with 92 GWh, or 24%, virtual producers with 69 GWh, or 17%, and privileged producers using the preferential tariff for electricity with 26 GWh, or 7%.

Of the domestic production, 82%, or 320 GWh, was sold to meet gross consumption, and 18%, or 70 GWh, was declared for export.

The gross electricity transit amounted to 408 GWh, with net transit at 372 GWh, and countertrading at 36 GWh.
