The National Electricity Market Operator – MEMO is actively involved in implementing reforms in the energy sector.
At the plenary meeting for IPA 3 – Window 3: Green agenda and sustainable connectivity, opened by the Minister of Energy, Mining, and Minerals, Sanja Bozhinovska, together with representatives of the EU delegation and all relevant domestic and international stakeholders in the energy sector, the focus was placed on investments in energy independence and environmentally friendly energy sources.
In this context, Elizabeta Giovska, department coordinator, and Aleksandar Ristovski, head of the electricity market management department, emphasized that MEMO is dedicated to significant projects such as market coupling with neighboring countries and EU member states for the successful integration of the Macedonian electricity market into the single European market, as well as the introduction of Guarantees of Origin (GOs) as the sole evidence of the origin of electricity produced from renewable sources.
IPA 3—Window 3 represents a framework for financial support from the European Union aimed at strengthening the Green Agenda and a sustainable energy sector. This program has allocated €5.2 million to support projects to reduce harmful emissions, increase energy efficiency, and develop renewable energy sources.
