The Forum organized by the Association of Engineers and Technicians—MAKO CIGRE, dedicated to “Power Exchange, One Year Later,” was held at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies (FEEIT). The focus was on the importance and benefits of trading on the Macedonian Power Exchange.
The CEO of MEMO, Zoran Gjorgjievski, presented the achievements of the domestic power exchange to representatives of institutions from the country’s electricity sector, companies, professors, and students. He highlighted that 35 participants trade daily, confirming the established reliability and transparent pricing for every hour of the day, as well as competitiveness with power exchanges in the region.
What’s next:
-Introduction of the euro as the trading currency (Q1 2025)
-Market coupling with exchanges in neighboring countries and the EU
-Development of an intraday market and guarantees of origin (GOs) from renewable energy sources
The management teams of EVN, ESM, MEPSO, and EDS also confirmed the growing trust in the domestic power exchange. According to them, trading on the day-ahead market has contributed to reducing electricity costs, which translates into benefits for end users.
Congratulations on the 30th anniversary of MAKO CIGRЕ and the successful organization of the Forum, which brought together key stakeholders in the energy sector and students to discuss the top topics in this field.
