A delegation from the U.S. Embassy, led by Economic Officer Ryan Miller, paid a working visit to the National Electricity Market Operator (MEMO) today.
During the meeting, MEMO CEO Zoran Gjorgjievski, along with Mitko Ognenoski, Head of the Department for Renewable Energy Sources and the Organized Electricity Market, briefed the U.S. Embassy officials about MEMO’s current activities and future plans.

Special emphasis was placed on market coupling initiatives with neighboring countries’ power exchanges and EU member states, as well as the launch of issuing Guarantees of Origin for electricity starting this month.
Gjorgjievski explained that the MEMO integrates multiple functions related to managing the bilateral electricity market, integrating renewable energy sources, and operating the Macedonian Power Exchange, which has been successfully functioning since 2023.

During the meeting, Miller and Jordan Damcevski, a senior economist at the U.S. Embassy, expressed satisfaction with the level of long-standing cooperation between MEMO and the U.S. Embassy in Skopje. This cooperation has been realized through joint activities aimed at modernization and development in various socio-economic sectors.
